The official launch of the UK Commission on Bereavement’s landmark report – live stream
Hosted by The Right Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, the Bishop of London  

Working in partnership with a number of charities, researchers, and people with lived experience of bereavement, the UK Commission on Bereavement was established in June 2021 to explore the adequacy of support for people affected by bereavement across the UK nations, and to make recommendations to better support bereaved people both now and in the future.

Over the last year, The UK Commission on Bereavement has been reviewing evidence from hundreds of people and organisations who have been affected by bereavement during the past five years. 

At this event, the UKCB will launch its report, outlining its key findings and recommendations. The event will be hosted by the chair of the commission, The Right Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, the Bishop of London, along with other commissioners.

 A UK Government minister has been invited to give a response to the report findings. 

The event will bring together charities and community sector organisations, academics, policy makers, influencers and many others to hear for the first time the findings of the UK Commission on Bereavement. Workshop sessions will also provide the opportunity for attendees to work with the Commissioners to plan how the findings and recommendations can be used to drive real change to future policy and practice.

There has been a lot of focus on how the UK will deliver an economic recovery from the pandemic, but much less about how society will recover – including the response to the pandemic as a mass bereavement event.  Please join us for this important event which will help to shape the future of how we respond to bereavement in the UK.

The UK Commission on Bereavement works alongside the following organisations: Marie Curie, Independent Age, the National Bereavement Alliance, Cruse, the Childhood Bereavement Network and the Centre for Mental Health, along with researchers from the University of Bristol who conducted a major academic study on bereavement.
